My name is Leslie and I work for Portobelo Wesley Street, Kaiapoi. I have been employed part-time since January 2007 and I completed my teacher registration in February 2008 year. For the first year of my Advice and Guidance programme I was on my own with little support, but when I came to Portobelo that changed dramatically. I am a trained Montessori teacher, and came to Portobelo to try something different and learn a new philosophy. I found the support that was offered to me through Advice and Guidance programme was wonderful - I was given readings and the opportunity to discuss them with my supervising registration teacher. She also videoed my teaching and took photos, which we discussed at our sessions. She gave me constructive feedback on my teaching methods and approached her evaluations in a very positive way. I looked forward to our sessions, and felt that I gained a great deal of knowledge and confidence from them. I would highly recommend this programme to any new graduate, as it gives you a solid foundation for future learning and reflection on your teaching practice.
